I value the importance of the therapeutic relationship and therefore work from a client-centered framework to help clients achieve their own goals. To help facilitate the therapeutic process, I strive to create a non-judgmental, supportive and understanding environment. When a therapeutic relationship is formed, I will work collaboratively with you to create an individual treatment plan by integrating concepts from a number of psychological theories and concepts including narrative, solution-focused, gestalt and cognitive-behavioral.
Play-based interventions are often used when working with children and youth as play is their natural method of communication and learning; through play, children are able to bridge the gap between concrete experiences and abstract thoughts thus creating positive changes in everyday life. These concepts are central to my practice. I may also use creative modalities with adolescents and adults to enhance the therapeutic process.
